Umeox-Apollo-Android-Smartphone
As smart phones are everywhere, the junkies of this gadget are on a rise as well. When encircled with power outlets, we are hardly forced to think how these electronics would work without a power supply. In case you go out camping or live in extreme north, what do you do for power? Carrying a portable charger may not always work. Fortunately a breed of mobiles has come up, which can rely on solar power for recharging needs.

At the Mobile World Congress, Umeox has unveiled a smartphone for solving (eliminating?) your power problems. The Apollo Android phone is set to become numero uno solar phone available in the market for global sales and purchase. All this gadget needs is 2.5 hours of basking in the sunlight to fully charge its battery.  However, it does not require direct sunlight. The instrument is perfect for adventurous and outdoor loving people.
You will be interested to know that sixteen minutes of your talk time will require one hour of sunlight. While natural light is sufficient for getting this gadget functional, artificial ambient light can also do the job.
There are many speculations regarding this phone. Apparently there will be a couple of models for Asian, European and American market. However, no news updates have been out regarding release dates of these models. Speculations are that they will be out in May.
Interested buyers will love the features like 3 megapixel video and photo camera on the rear as well as a slot for SD memory card.  A few highlights of this gadget are:
Technical features:
  • Solar panel powering the phone is 24 cm2
  • Internet access of 3G HSDPA
  • Display of 3.21” 320 × 480 px
  • Battery power 1300 mAh
  • 1 GB storage capacity
  • FM radio
  • 2.1 Blue tooth with A2DP
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Rear facing video camera of 3 MP
Not only does this phone look smart, but it has all the basic utility aspects you could require from a mobile phone.
The possible price of the phone is known to be cheaper than the other phones in the market, especially considering its solar chargeable property. The company has not provided technological specifications regarding the solar panel present on the rear. There are rumors of a possible solar enabled microchip as well as solar cell under development.
Well, it is high time we considered the natural resources for our never ending demand for energy. Release of such products might encourage other manufacturers to come up with more innovative mobile designs and ideas as Apollo by Umeox.
