How To Disable Or Restrict USB Flash Drive In Windows 8

Most of the viruses enter into your PC from USB flash drives. If you want to disable or restrict USB flash drive in your Windows 8 PC then follow today’s tutorial on Windows 8 in which I am going to tell you a registry tweak to disable or restrict USB Flash Drive in Windows 8. Just follow the following steps:
1 – Open Run by pressing WIN + R button from your computer keyboard.

2 – Then open Registry Editor by tying regedit in the Run Open field and hit Enter.

3 – Then navigate to following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor in the Registry Editor and double click on Usbstor.

4 – Then, in the right pane of Registry Editor, right click on Start and select Modify… from the menu.

5 – After selecting Modify a Dialog box will open. Change the Value Data of Start from 3 to 4 and click OK button to save the changes.

6 – Now Reboot your PC to effect the changes.
7 – This Registry tweak will disable the USB ports from your computer for Windows 8 and doesn’t detect any USB device. If you want to enable USB Flash drive again, then repeat the above steps and change the Value Data of Start from 4 to 3 again.
